Macbook 12" Retina Early 2015 – Waste of Money?

June 14, 2020

The Macbook 12″ Retina Early 2015 video is upon us. Do I tear it a new one – a new port, that is – or do I marvel at its beauty? Maybe a touch of both…

  • What's with all this ranting and raving over wanting mechanical keyboards? They SUCK! they're a pain in the ass to type quickly on and they make so much noise that a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant is quieter than typing this comment on them, not to mention that they are ridiculously expensive. The butterfly keyboard is probably the best I've ever used.

  • So editing videos, photoshopping and coding are important while writing on documents and web browsing are considered doing nothing important? Arrogant. In the end this goes back to one's preference and what type of 'important' task you're doing.

  • I hate the butterfly keyboard so bought the early 2015 pro. No need for dongles, better screen than the air and similar battery life. If the early 2015 macbook pro isn't Linus' least hated version i'll eat my hat.

  • I think I have the weirdest use for a 12” MacBook. I am a massive power user, doing CFD and math code all the time, so after a lot of tries I’ve realized that no laptop is gonna run those calculations for me in a reasonable amount of time. So, I have a 24 core quad-GPU monster at home running all the time, and this tiny MacBook with teamviewer to work from anywhere. And just to see the people’s faces when the see me run ANSYS on this tiny cute thing. Btw it is the most awesome looking piece of tech ever !

  • Now that the MacBook was just discontinued, the price dropped a lot on eBay. I snagged a 2017 one with only 32 battery cycles on it in flawless condition for $650. For that price, I think it is a really awesome little machine. I have a full sized MacBook Pro that I use for school, but it is kind of a lot to lug around when I'm on the go, and the battery isn't that great. This thing is so portable, slim, light, and snappy that I love using it. It's a good replacement for my 10.5 inch iPad Pro, which I like using but I always wished it could do just a little more. This is great for some word processing, YouTube watching, and internet browsing. Love it!
