  • Hi Rick,
Quick question – I tried doing this procedure before with the exact same SSD in a 13 inch Late 2013 model, but after the install the fans would ramp up way faster than with the old SSD and the laptop ran a lot hotter. Is this something you've run into as well, and is there a solution? I put the original SSD back in and it worked just like it did before – fans as well.

  • Quick question. In the beginning of the video, you mention that you need to install the system on the SSD first and thus you need the SSD enclosure. My question is, can I not purchase the SSD enclosure and instead first install the new SSD then with a Catalina Install USB drive install the OS? Thanks

  • Great Video, now when you do a factory reset later down the road, you won't have to take the SSD out and format it, correct?

  • I’ve seen people online saying that your Mac will no longer be able to hibernate or deep sleep. Has your battery usage been affected at all?

  • Actually, the screws are the same size but not the same length. The 2 in the middle are a little longer than the rest. 😉

  • Hi, Rick, awesome video, I did mine Yesterday. Your video helped greatly. One question, after the upgrade, speed test is at 1300, while 970 evo can go to 3300. Do you know why? Late 2013 15’’ macbook pro

  • Thanks, when using a 2019 mac you also need to make sure to allow boot from external drive else you will get error during install
